What is Artificial Intelligence?

According to the father of Artificial Intelligence, John McCarthy, it is “The science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs”.

THE FOUNDATION OF AI:-

The disciplines that contributed ideas, viewpoints and techniques to AI are:-

  • Computer science And Engineering
  • Mathematics
  • Economics
  • Psychology
  • Linguistics
  • Philosophy
  • Neuroscience.

THE AI RESEARCH INCLUDE:-

Reasoning, Knowledge, Planning, Learning, Natural Language Processing (communication), Perception and the ability to move and manipulate objects.

DEFINITION OF AI

THE DEFINITION OF AI DEPENDS ON:-

  • THOUGHT PROCESS.
  • REASONING.
  • BEHAVIOR.
  • RATIONALITY.

WE CAN DEFINE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE BY ORGANIZING IT INTO FOUR CATEGORIES:-

1) THINKING HUMANLY:-(BELLMAN,1978)

Make Computers think….”The machine with the mind.”

For Example:

  • Decision Making
  • Problem Solving
  • Learning etc.

2) THINKING RATIONALLY:-(WINSTON,1992)

“Make Computers possible to perceive, reason and act”

3) ACTING HUMANLY:-(KUZWEIL,1990)

“Creating Machines that perform functions that require intelligence when performed by the people”

4) ACTING RATIONALLY:-
